Do you like bikes, pizza, History, and/or the human spirit overcoming insurmountable odds? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you will not want to miss the up and coming Tour De France Party. Here is the information from the Facebook event.
The event will be Thursday July 22nd starting at 7pm. It will be happening at Rowley Press located at 39 W 200 N in Provo.
Come out to watch one of the most exciting stages in one of the best Tours in years. The peloton will be climbing the mountain Tourmelet twice! We will be watching the second day of climbing. The Tour may be a spandex event but, these coming climbs really resonate with classic cycling. Just you your bike and what seems to be an insurmountable task. When the man who suggested this mountain went to check it out in 1910 his car got stuck in snow requiring him to hike up were he encountered a bear, suffered hypothermia, and had to be rescued. Escaping narrowly with his life he telegraphed Paris to tell them how the reconnaissance went his now famous words were “Perfectly Acceptable.”
$6 (in advance) or $10 (at the door) will get you in to the event as well as get you some Slab Pizza and a drink. YOU MUST HAVE EXACT CHANGE IF YOU ARE PRE-BUYING TICKETS.
We recommend you pre-buy tickets. You can pick them up at either Mad Dog Cycles in Provo or Racers Cycles in Provo and Bingham Cycles on Center St. All you have to do is walk in give the person at the counter six bucks and they will give you a ticket. Nice and simple. Tickets will be on sale at the shops until 6pm Thursday night.
We hope to see you all out to this event it is going to be a lot of fun. Before we start watching the actual stage there will be a brief history on cycling both as a sport, and as transport. During the Tour we will have Slab Pizza in plenty as well as all sorts of tasty drinks. It would be safe to say this event will be a “Perfectly Acceptable,” way to spend your night.
This event will be a great time to mix with other cyclists and get to know a little more about the beautiful thing we call a bicycle. If you have never watched a stage of the tour before this will be THE stage to watch. Hope to see all of you there.
